Hallux valgus

Hallux valgus is a foot condition that consists of a progressive deviation of the big toe towards the other toes.

It is directly connected, through muscular chains, to tongue mobility and functionality, but as always, the trigger lies in the digestive system.

I have seen cases that regressed with postural work (Mézières method) combined with proper nutrition; the pain immediately stopped, and the progression of the anatomical deviation was halted, while the aesthetic appearance of the foot also improved.

If the causes are understood, surgery can also be considered in more advanced cases as an alternative. In such cases, recurrence can be virtually eliminated, provided that the correct functionality of the big toe muscles is restored and an appropriate diet is followed to maintain a low inflammatory state.

Genetics is estimated to influence the problem by about 20%, but it is the epigenetic factor—i.e., lifestyle—that determines whether the condition develops or not.

“Genetics loads the gun; lifestyle pulls the trigger.”
